Magnum IP Video of Harrisonburg, Virginia announced completion today of a large multi-location Network Video Surveillance System installation for Traffic Systems of Harmans Maryland.

 

Traffic Systems is a primary infrastructure contractor to the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration providing in ground-cabling, traffic lights, highway lighting and other essential public and private roads and highways infrastructure contracting services. Traffic Systems engages multi-year contracts with the State of Maryland to source and install critical infrastructure components of the Maryland highway and road systems.

 

As a major contractor, Traffic Systems maintains three separate locations with heavy equipment, vehicles and inventory stocks to supply their various job sites. Security and loss prevention is a critical component of their cost management and contract profitability.

 

Magnum IP Video crafted a complex network video surveillance system that integrated existing analog and new digital cameras across three separate locations and polled the video feeds across the Internet to a main system management software application on a server at the main office. Utilizing state-of-the-art technologies manufactured by Industrial Video Controls (a major military and industrial technology contractor) Magnum IP Video integrated discreet outdoor motion detectors to the camera system to transmit event alarms to the central server which in turn transmits pre-set camera movement commands to cameras within the secure areas where motion was detected.  Further, the system generates notifications to administrator cell phones indicating the camera zone where an event has occurred with a time stamp.

 

In addition to automated control of the outdoor Pan/Tilt/Zoom cameras, the system creates an event log and records events for a pre-determined duration. The system was further integrated with an existing access control security system that triggers pre-determined cameras to begin recording when there is a breach signal from an entry sensor.  Both live footage and archived footage is not only accessible from the main office, it is accessible from any computer in the world via an internet connection and password access.  Cameras and recorded footage can also be accessed by a web enabled mobile device and cameras with Pan/Tilt/Zoom capability can be remotely controlled via the Internet as well.
