Using IP Video Surveillance for your home can bring you enormous peace of mind. Whether you already have CCTV surveillance cameras or need to purchase new IP Network Video Cameras, having Internet access to your cameras allows you to actually monitor your home form anywhere via a computer connected to the Internet. What does IP Video Surveillance mean?
IP stands for Internet Protocol. IP video means the video images are being converted to a digital signal and then communicated across a network to a computer on premise or off premise (or both). The video images are further communciated across the Internet (thus "IP" Video) where they can be accessed remotely with a web browser from any location in the world - with the appropriate username and password.
Do I need special cameras?
No. If you already have CCTV cameras, we can use a camera server device to convert your camera feed to a digital signal that can be communicated across IP Networks. If you are purchasing new cameras, we suggest you purchase IP Cameras that already communicate digitally across IP Networks.
How do I access what the cameras sees?
The cameras are connected via network cable to a network hub. A computer at your home is connected to the network hub as well. Our Relay Server software operates on your computer. You may use the computer to veiw all of your cameras. There is another optional software, View Station, that provides robust camera management features for scheduling camera views and assigning alarms and motion detection events to your cameras.
The Relay Server software on your computer at home allows you to log into your cameras (You must have Internet service at your home) from any other computer in the world via the Internet with any web browser. You not only have the ability to monitor the views form your cameras, you may record and also control the cameras with remote Pan, Tilt and Zoom capability.
You do not any special software on any computer other that the one at your home. If you are using another computer any where in the world to veow your cameras, that computer does noot need the Relay Server Software loaded on it.
How many cameras can I access?
The number of cameras you may access is based on the Relay Server software. The software can be purchased in license increments of 1 to 99 camera licenses.
Can I access the cameras to see my home when I am away?
Absolutely! That is the primary benefit of IP Video Surveillance.
Can I use my existing cameras?
Yes! We can provide a Camera Server device that converts your CCTV cameras to IP Netwrok cameras.
Can I put cameras inside and outside?
Yes. We have cameras that are made specifically to withstand extreme weather conditions. You have a choice between indoor and outdoor cameras that are either "fixed view" or Pan, Tilt, Zoom (PTZ) which allow you to remotely control the camera to move up, down, left and right - and zoom in and focus on specific views.
Can I control the cameras?
Yes! If you are using PTZ (Pan - Tilt - Zoom) cameras, you have the ability to remotely control them viaa web browser on any computer with access to the internet.
